By on September 8th, 2014 — 2:46pm

VISIT FLORIDA is partnering with Visit Orlando and the United States Tennis Association to promote a new state-of-the-art tennis facility being built in the Lake Nona area of Orlando, and the city’s overall draw as the new home for American tennis. As part of this ongoing partnership, members of the VISIT FLORIDA team traveled to the U.S. Open in New York City to host unique events for meeting planners and media.

VISIT FLORIDA’s Director of Sales, Meetings and Travel Trade, Cheryl Hatcher led the VIP (Very Important Planner) event which was held in a luxury suite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.  Throughout the all-day gathering, staff networked with eleven invited meeting planners from the New York City area to share the latest information on meetings and conventions opportunities available in the Sunshine State.

During the media mixer, VISIT FLORIDA’s Public Relations Representative Lucy Spann hosted 12 sports, meetings & conventions and travel trade media, sharing details on the plans for Orlando’s new tennis facility and press releases from more than 15 other VISIT FLORIDA DMO partners, showcasing the abundance of athletic activities available to sports lovers visiting the Sunshine State.  A landing page with all of the content was created for the media and can be found by clicking here.

Orlando is poised to become the new home of American tennis with the arrival of the USTA’s Community Tennis and Player Development headquarters and the completion of the associated tennis facility in 2016.  Featuring 100+ courts, the complex will create an unparalleled experience for players, coaches and spectators.  Click here to read Visit Orlando’s release.
