 | Delray Beach Named Most Fun Small Town in America |
I would like to congratulate Delray Beach for being named the “Most Fun Small Town in America” in Rand McNally/USA Today’s 2012 Best of the Road contest. Kudos to Deland as well, who was the first runner-up in the “Most Patriotic” category. Other categories included “Most Beautiful,” “Best for Food” and “Friendliest” small town.
The top 6 towns in each category were selected through online nominations and voting. Over a four-week period, those 30 towns were then visited by a two-person team who reported on and collectively selected the winners. The winners were announced last Tuesday at the Destination Marketing Association International annual meeting in Seattle, where more than 1,300 destination marketing organization professionals from 13 countries gathered to take part in education sessions and peer-to-peer sharing.
VISIT FLORIDA is proud to have had a hand in Delray Beach’s success, by putting out the word about the contest to the Florida tourism industry through a special e-communique alert. A primary goal is to keep our outbound communication efforts targeted and relevant. This is a great example of VISIT FLORIDA gathering and sharing information from our contacts at the national level with our industry partners and stakeholders to help ensure Florida destinations gain the spotlight they deserve.
