Gov. Scott: First Quarter of 2017 Sets Florida Visitation Record

Q1 2017 Visitor Numbers Press Conference photoI am proud to share that during a press conference at Jungle Island in Miami this morning, Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida set another record by welcoming 31.1 million visitors in the first quarter of 2017, the highest quarterly number ever. This represents a 2.5 percent increase over the same period in 2016. Even though Florida’s tourism industry is booming, the Florida Legislature cut VISIT FLORIDA’s budget by 67 percent for the upcoming fiscal year, putting Florida’s incredible growth and the many families and businesses that rely on the tourism industry at risk. VISIT FLORIDA & Partners Host Second Successful Indian Media FAM

Leading up to the IIFA Awards – Bollywood’s Oscars – in Tampa next month, VISIT FLORIDA teamed up with Visit Orlando, Visit Tampa Bay and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau to bring four leading Indian media to experience Florida for themselves.  Virgin Atlantic Airways supported the FAM tour with complimentary flights into Miami. Rally to Promote ‘Share a Little Sunshine’ Campaign Is a Huge Success

Yesterday, Governor Charlie Crist joined more than a hundred VISIT FLORIDA Partners and other tourism industry representatives on Miami Beach for a rally to re-launch the statewide, grassroots ‘Share a Little Sunshine’ campaign.  The Governor and I called on all Floridians to help strengthen the state’s economy by sending a personal invitation to out-of-state friends and family, encouraging them to visit the Sunshine State.
