I am very proud to share with you that VISIT FLORIDA has been awarded accreditation from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). DMAP is an international accreditation program developed by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). As a global leader in destination marketing standards, DMAI affirmed VISIT FLORIDA as a leadership organization among statewide destination marketing organizations (DMOs). In addition to obtaining accreditation status, DMAP distinguished VISIT FLORIDA as the first statewide DMO to receive DMAI’s recognition of excellence in best practices. Continue reading »

Thanks to all of the industry partners who contributed insights, ideas, direction and feedback in the development of the 2010-2011 VISIT FLORIDA Strategic Marketing Plan. From the Marketing Retreat last December through many meetings of VISIT FLORIDA Committees, Councils and Task Forces, thousands of man-hours have been contributed by over a hundred dedicated industry professionals to help guide the VISIT FLORIDA staff in the development of this plan. Last night was a historic night! Shortly before 9:00 p.m., the U.S. Senate passed the Travel Promotion Act creating the Corporation for Travel Promotion and providing up to $100 million for international marketing of the United States brand. During last Thursday’s VISIT FLORIDA Boardof Directors meeting, held in Daytona Beach Shores, local legislators Senator Evelyn Lynn and Representative Pat Patterson addressed the group to thank the tourism industry for all they do for the great State of Florida and to expound on issues they expect to be taking up in the coming committee weeks and 2010 Session. Representative Dean Cannon, incoming Speaker of the House, was also in attendance to advocate for his House bill regarding offshore drilling and to establish a dialogue going forward with tourism industry leaders on this controversial and important issue.
