Yesterday, the Partnership for Florida’s Tourism and five other statewide organizations hosted the industry’s annual Florida Tourism Day. This all-day event at the Florida Capitol provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the state’s No. 1 industry to the legislature and to educate them on the rationale for tourism marketing public funding. Last week, I had the opportunity to represent VISIT FLORIDA as we joined the team from the Florida Attractions Association for the 2014 Attraction Regional Forums. These forums brought together over 100 FAA members and stakeholders at four locations around the state. Our hosts included The Ringling in Sarasota, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Orlando Science Center, and Legacy Tours of Flagler College in St. Augustine. Continue reading »

Today, the Florida Legislature passed the state budget which included a $9.5 million increase in VISIT FLORIDA funding for a record $63.5 million in FY 2013-14.
With this substantial increase in VISIT FLORIDA funding, Florida tourism is extremely well positioned to build on two consecutive years of record visitation and job creation. I would like to thank Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature for their visionary leadership and for their extraordinary support of VISIT FLORIDA and the state’s tourism industry. VISIT FLORIDA recently joined with our Partner, the Florida Attractions Association, in promoting the importance of attractions to the tourism economy at their 2013 Attraction Regional Forums. The forum brought out 20-45 FAA members and attraction stakeholders to each of the four events to participate in conversations about current market trends, technology, operations and best practices of the attraction industry.
