The Sunshine State recently played host to one of the leading exhibitions for the U.S. meetings, events, incentive and business travel industry.  Held in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center, the 2014 Americas Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition –  better known as AIBTM – welcomed more than 3,000 top level decision makers for meetings and incentive business travel who met with corporate planners to talk about top meeting destinations across the globe. Last week, the Travel Professionals of Color (TPOC) held their 12th Annual Conference and Trade Show in Fort Lauderdale.  Nearly 100 travel professionals gathered to address the theme of “Bridging our Past with Our Future.” TPOC, a national organization that promotes training, networking and support of minority travel professionals, has membership from North America, Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas and Jamaica. I recently represented VISIT FLORIDA at the Southeast Tourism Society Spring Symposium 2014, which was attended by nearly 250 travel professionals.  The event, hosted this year in Lexington by the Kentucky Department of Travel, brings members together to network and participate in regional advocacy and recognition programs to promote tourism throughout the Southeast.
