Sunshine Matters

VISIT FLORIDA recently participated in U.S. Travel Association’s 47th Annual IPW held in Orlando.  This year marked the 11th time Florida has hosted the travel industry’s premier international marketplace, bringing to the Sunshine State a record of more than 6,500 attendees.  The show consisted of international and domestic travel buyers, journalists and suppliers representing more than 70 countries. I am pleased to announce that VISIT FLORIDA has selected our new leadership to serve on the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and industry committees.  More than 220 VISIT FLORIDA Partners, including some of the industry’s foremost experts, have been selected to represent the tourism industry for the upcoming term which begins on July 1. Recently, thirteen VISIT FLORIDA Visitor Services staff members from the five Official Florida Welcome Centers and the Tallahassee corporate office were invited to participate in a familiarization (FAM) tour of the Pensacola area.  These semi-annual tours allow Welcome Center staff to visit regions of the state so that they can relate first-hand knowledge to newly arrived Florida visitors.  As part of the five-day event, staff experienced many of the wonderful attractions, accommodations and restaurants in the Pensacola area courtesy of our Partners at Visit Pensacola. Attendee registration for the 48th Annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism is now open.  This year, VISIT FLORIDA’s No. 1 signature event, which serves as Florida’s premier educational conference for the tourism industry, will be held August 31-September 2 at the Tampa Convention Center.
