Sunshine Matters

I am pleased to announce that during last evening’s awards gala in New York, Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) recognized VISIT FLORIDA with one Gold and three Silver Adrian Awards.  The awards were given for public relations and digital marketing excellence for VISIT FLORIDA’s winning entries in the 55th Annual Adrian Awards Competition, the world’s most recognized and prestigious advertising, public relations and digital marketing competition for the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. This year’s total of four awards marks VISIT FLORIDA’s largest number of winning Adrian entries ever received.

VISIT FLORIDA was selected by HSMAI to receive a Gold Adrian Award for its “Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk” crisis recovery campaign and Silver Adrian Awards for its “Sunshine Moments” social media campaign, its “Florida Seafood Celebration” special event in Washington, D.C. and its “GO Magazine” feature placement in AirTran’s on-board publication. I am pleased to announce that the Florida Seafood Celebration, held at Florida House on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 17, was a huge success with more than 200 legislators, staffers and seafood enthusiasts in attendance.  Senator Bill Nelson and Senator-elect Marco Rubio were two members of Florida’s congressional delegation who joined the festivities and addressed the crowd in support of Florida’s tourism and seafood industries.  Continue reading »

In response to continuous media reports from this past summer’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill, VISIT FLORIDA is working to inform travelers that Florida is open for business and our seafood is delicious.  Seafood is one of the state’s great treasures and, unfortunately, misinformation in the marketplace has had a negative impact on Florida’s seafood industry.

VISIT FLORIDA has established a partnership with the Florida House on Capitol Hill, Florida Department of Agriculture, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Florida Department of Citrus to celebrate Florida’s seafood in our nation’s capital.  Taking place November 17, the Florida Seafood Celebration is designed to celebrate and promote Florida’s famously diverse and delicious range of seafood.  This evening event will be held at Florida House in Washington, D.C. and attended by members of Florida’s congressional delegation, state leaders and other dignitaries.   Continue reading »
