2011 Florida Legislative Session Is Officially Under Way

Each year, just about this time, we all see certain signs that let us know spring is just around the corner.  For some, it is the weather, March Madness or even the start of the Grapefruit League.  And, for others, it is the start of the new legislative session.

This year is no different, and yesterday our elected Representatives and Senators reported for the 2011 Regular Legislative Session.  This year, in addition to other issues and the overall budget, the legislature will decide on appropriations for tourism marketing.  Governor Rick Scott has recommended $26.7 million for VISIT FLORIDA’s marketing efforts for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.  Continue reading »

‘Share a Little Sunshine’ Tour Reaches Key Florida Markets

Governor Rick Scott and the “Sunshine Ambassadors” from VISIT FLORIDA returned from last week’s highly visible “Share a Little Sunshine” tour with a renewed commitment to the importance of tourism in Florida.  Governor Scott and the rest of the team spent two days in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and Chicago hosting Florida-themed events, speaking with potential visitors and meetings professionals, and awarding Florida vacation packages to lucky winners.  Continue reading »

Floridians Can Help ‘Share a Little Sunshine’ Without Having to Freeze

Today, Governor Scott and other “Sunshine Ambassadors” are in the midst of a two-day, four-city Share a Little Sunshine tour to take some Florida-style fun and sun on the road to our winter-weary neighbors to the north.  On day one, the team visited chilly Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia and, on day two, have moved on to blustery New York and Chicago.  Continue reading »
