VISIT FLORIDA Helps Promote National Travel & Tourism Week

By on May 28th, 2014 — 2:57pm

This month, Florida joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the importance of tourism during the annual National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW).  Held in May each year since 1984, tourism entities across America hold rallies, awards luncheons and other activities to help spotlight the power of travel.

Destination marketing organizations throughout the Sunshine State hosted inspiring events that drew lots of attendance and attention.  VISIT FLORIDA was delighted to support our industry Partners at several of these events, providing presentations on tourism’s role as Florida’s leading economic and employment driver.

I had the privilege of speaking at the Volusia County NTTW Luncheon and the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce Annual Tourism Luncheon.  Here are some other great examples of VISIT FLORIDA’s involvement around the state:

Paul Phipps, VISIT FLORIDA’s Chief Marketing Officer, and Kimberly Faulk, VISIT FLORIDA’s Vice President of Marketing Solutions and Sales, and other members of her team attended the Visit Central Florida tourism rally, the Space Coast lunch at the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s event at The Bath Club, Experience Kissimmee’s Florida Tourism Games and Street Party in Old Town and Visit Orlando’s luncheon at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort.  Combined, these events had more than 1,500 attendees.

Florida’s tourism industry has much to celebrate this month and all year round. Coming off of three consecutive record years for visitation and visitor spend, our collective efforts have the Sunshine State poised to become the No. 1 travel destination in the world.
