Mashable.com, regarded as the top source for news in social and digital media, technology and web culture, is currently holding voting for its 4th Annual Mashable Awards.  The Mashable Awards celebrate major innovations and achievements in the digital and social media landscape by companies, people and projects.  Help us show the social media community that VISIT FLORIDA should be recognized by voting for Florida Live as Mashable’s “Most Creative Social Media Campaign” and The Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk as the “Most Creative Social Good Campaign.”  The Mashable Awards allows votes to be submitted once a day per category until Monday, Nov. 29, so please ask everyone you know to vote as many times as possible!

Created in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Florida Live allows users to view real-time photos being shared by real people throughout the Sunshine State.  Since its inception in May, Florida Live has continued to be a key element in showcasing Florida to visitors on our consumer website.  Research this summer concluded that 31 percent of Florida Live visitors said, after viewing the content, that they were more likely to vacation in Florida.

The Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk and photo fest, held on Nov. 6 in all 34 of Florida’s beach counties, served as a fun way to engage Florida residents in showing the world that all 825 miles of the Sunshine State’s beaches are as pristine as ever.  More than 3,700 participants statewide took photos on beaches that morning and uploaded them to the Beach Walk website creating a photo gallery of more than 5,200 images.  To date, we have had nearly 20,000 unique visits to the Beach Walk photo gallery, approximately 500 views daily and more than 4,000 votes cast for viewers favorite Florida beach mile.
