VISIT FLORIDA & Partners Leverage Media in Hamburg, Germany

IMG_4298VISIT FLORIDA’s German PR team recently hosted a media reception and dinner in Hamburg, Germany.  Hamburg is the most historic publishing location in Germany, with a wide variety of high-circulation magazines and online publications.  Leveraging the German media through media receptions and other PR initiatives allows VISIT FLORIDA to keep Florida top-of-mind and continue the popularity of German travel to the Sunshine State.

IMG_4293Hosted on the 13th floor of the Sturmfreie Bude, with views overlooking the Alster, the setting was perfect for a group of top-notch media to meet with VISIT FLORIDA and 10 of our Partners.  Each partner was provided with their own space that allowed them to have one-on-one meetings with the 17 journalists in attendance.  As an enjoyable addition to the night, The Florida Keys and Key West sponsored an interactive key lime pie station, which allowed the media to either make their own or watch a chef make miniature versions of Florida’s most famous dessert.

IMG_4204The theme of this year’s Germany Media Reception focused on the recent launch of the “Finde Dein Florida” TripTuner tool, which is the perfect resource for German travelers to personalize their travel options to Florida’s beaches, attractions and beyond.  As part of our presentation during the reception, VISIT FLORIDA demonstrated to all of the attendees this new tool and how beneficial it can be when planning a Florida vacation.

With Florida as one of the most popular U.S. destinations for German travelers, Germany is one of VISIT FLORIDA’s top five international markets, hosting 446,000 German visitors in 2014 who spent more than $312 million.  The popularity and stability of German long-haul travel have driven historical growth in visitation to the state.
