New National Power of Travel Coalition to Create Unified Voice for Industry

By on March 17th, 2011 — 4:50pm

As you know, travel and tourism not only works for Florida—it works for America.  Our industry is one of America’s largest employers, with one out of every nine non-farm jobs relying on travel.  In the Sunshine State, every 85 visitors to Florida support one  tourism job.

The newly-formed Power of Travel Coalition aims to bring the members of this dynamic industry together under a unified voice to ensure that our leaders in Washington are protecting and promoting travel.  This grassroots coalition will work to build an army of one million travel community advocates to:

  • Tell the story of why travel matters to employees, vendors, policymakers, and communities;
  • Increase travel to and within the United States by removing barriers to travel and preventing harmful legislation; and
  • Demonstrate the power of travel by highlighting voices of the travel community in local and national media.

A strong travel economy means stronger local economies and more jobs for Florida.  For that reason, the Power of Travel Coalition has three core objectives: champion, improve and protect the travel community.  The Coalition will amplify the voices of millions of travel employees with a vested interest in combatting future assaults on travel, rewarding leaders who champion our industry, and advocating for policies that promote travel to and within the United States.

I encourage you to visit www.travelcoalition.org to learn more and sign up.  Membership is free, and by joining you will receive regular updates and action alerts from the Coalition, as well as further opportunities to become a vocal advocate for travel.  By joining the Power of Travel Coalition, you will ensure that your voice is heard when it’s needed most.
