By on May 2nd, 2011 — 3:06pm

Floridians realize how fortunate we are to have the opportunity to live and play every day in this paradise known around the world as the Sunshine State.  Whether we decide to treat ourselves to a weekend getaway or an entire week-long vacation, we have an incredible array of destinations available to us right here in our own backyard.  From gorgeous white sandy beaches and world-famous attractions to breath-taking scenic waterways and quaint historic small towns, we have a lifetime’s worth of amazing places in Florida just waiting to be discovered.

VISIT FLORIDA’s Florida Insider magazine is designed specifically for Floridians by Floridians, to provide residents with insider tips, hints, and information on all the amazing things to see and do in the Sunshine State by writers who live and travel in-state.  The magazine contains sections that cover specific areas of interest, such as beaches, family, arts and entertainment, outdoors and nature, boating and fishing, sports and recreation, as well as activities that are “off the beaten path.”

The content for this publication comes from a team of Insiders, assembled by VISIT FLORIDA, who know the Sunshine State inside and out and who are happy to provide travel advice to make everyone’s Florida getaways more enjoyable.  By tapping into the experience and insight of the Insiders, Floridians get first-hand information on a wide and varied array of ways to enjoy the wonders of our state.

The Florida Insider magazine also offers readers details on how to follow the Insiders’ blogs and Twitter posts and pose questions of their own directly to the experts.  In addition, the magazine has a section dedicated to helping readers explore the many ways to utilize VISIT FLORIDA’s official website at www.VISITFLORIDA.com to learn more about a host of different destinations in the state.  There are also Microsoft tags throughout the publication so readers have an easy way to get even more information on a featured topic right from their mobile device.

VISIT FLORIDA has printed 300,000 copies of the magazine which have now been mailed to more than 225,000 Florida residents and fans in neighboring drive market states who requested to receive the publication.  The remaining copies are available for visitors to pick up in our five Official Florida Welcome Centers at I-10, I-95, I-75, US 231 and the Florida Capitol, and will also be taken to special in-state travel shows throughout the year.

Later this month, online visitors will be able to view the magazine as an eBook.  Last year’s publication, as well as many other guides and maps are currently available at www.VISITFLORIDA.com/guides.
