VISIT FLORIDA Attends FACVB Summit

By on June 9th, 2010 — 1:35pm

VISIT FLORIDA is working with and communicating to our industry partners as the ongoing developments of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill situation continue. Recently, VISIT FLORIDA staff attended the FACVB annual summit. The summit was the first event, since the current situation arose in the Gulf, for VISIT FLORIDA to have face-to-face time with our destination partners.

During the presentation, the gathered delegation contributed pertinent and valuable information and feedback, sharing concerns from industry partners regarding how the oil spill presents uncertainty and challenges for tourism in Florida. The most predominant issue from an industry relationship perspective was the perceived lack of communication from VISIT FLORIDA to the industry in general. VISIT FLORIDA responded immediately and will be implementing a weekly update to all DMO’s around the state to keep our partners informed on the planning and crisis response coming from the VISIT FLORIDA team. In addition, a regularly distributed PR update goes out from the VISIT FLORIDA PR team to PR counterparts throughout the state, sharing important media analysis of oil spill coverage and updates on projects VISIT FLORIDA is proactively working on.

Also, continuous updates from VISIT FLORIDA can be found right here at SunshineMatters.org. Make sure you sign up, if you are not already receiving these important updates. As our tourism industry works together to address this crisis, VISIT FLORIDA will continue to keep the industry-wide communication effort a top priority.
