VISIT FLORIDA Participates in First-Ever National Meetings Industry Day

By on April 17th, 2015 — 2:38pm

NAMIDAs part of the first annual North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID), VISIT FLORIDA was proud to lend our voice to this nationwide day of advocacy to spotlight the substantial value derived from business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions.  To help celebrate the meeting industry’s impact on local, national and international economies, VISIT FLORIDA promoted NAMID through e-blasts, Florida Meetings Twitter and Facebook posts, and support for statewide “Meetings Mean Business” events.

NAMID is the product of the Meetings Mean Business cross-industry communications and advocacy initiative, as well as industry leaders in Canada and Mexico, who hosted and helped organize events in communities all across their respective countries.   The Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) was created in 2009 by the U.S. Travel Association to showcase the incredible value that business meetings, travel and events bring to the U.S. economy.  Its members span all facets of the face-to-face industry, which have come together behind a common goal: providing the resources, tools and information to show the real impact the industry has on businesses, economies and communities.

Here are a few stats to keep in mind:

  • An Oxford Economics report found that every dollar invested in business travel realizes $9.50 in new revenue and produces $2.90 in profits
  • More than two-in-five executives stated that they would lose their customers without face-to-face meetings
